Good Friday at the ‘Dumps’

Surf at the Dumps, Nov 2007Dossed off yesterday and had a very good Friday. Threw the body boards in the car and went to the beach – ‘The Dumps’ at Castlegregory where we spent an hour being tossed by some fun surf. Beautiful sunny day, water at 14 degrees, loads of rolling white water for body boarding. I wear glasses, but I’ve started wearing daily disposable contacts in the water, and they haven’t floated off yet. If you have spent 37 years being blind as a bat in the water, being able to actually see what is happening is a real joy. Then we headed off to Ballyferriter to Louis Mulcahy Pottery where we bought a sink in the sale. We picked up a tea pot at another pottery down the road, and then back to Dingle for seafood chowder at John Benny’s. After a quick scoot round the shops, we ended up, as usual, having homemade ice-cream at Murphy’s. People who know Dingle will know this is as close to a perfect day as you can get.
